A HOT SUMMER...
...afternoon
Was the day I met Frasier. I knew at right that time I found something special, a unique gem.
I just turned on the TV at my place for a few minutes, to pass the time with something before I leave the house, to go to the local football pitch to play with some friends.
And then I saw Frasier was being aired on the local channel, I did not know at that time what series I was watching, but I still remember the scene, Martin and Eddie were just arriving at home after a walk on a rainy day. Martin said something about the cleaning of Eddie's paws, and suddenly came the answer from Frasier:
IT'S CLEAR NOW!! - and you saw Eddie was rubbing his paws on Frasier's expensive couch, which is "a replica of the one Coco Chanel had in her Paris atelier", as Frasier told in the very first episode of the series. It was a beginning of a beautiful friendship!
Why Is It?
Why do I think Frasier is the best sitcom ever?
Well, it's easy to tell with a few words, but you need to experience it to see why Frasier the number one is, in my opinion. To properly explain how great Frasier is, I would label it with the REAL COMEDY - in every aspect - expression. I even could say the worldwide-famous Friends is not even a comedy compared to Frasier. I mean, I like(d) Friends, but Friends is just a fun series with young people and funny scenes. Frasier is a miles-long way better than Friends, it has everything a top-notch sitcom needs. Everything that makes a comedy-labeled show into REAL COMEDY. As I started at the top of this page, the scenes, those well-written scenes! It's "just" a twenty-minute sitcom, but any words or happenings could come up later in the current episode resulting in a creative big joke. Not to mention the farce episodes, whiches even raise the speed if it's about well-written screenplay. If you have never seen the episodes, like The Ski Lodge, Ham Radio, The Matchmaker, or The Seal Who Came to Dinner - only to mention some of the bests -, then WATCH THEM NOW!
I really MEAN it!
Frasier has plenty of these episodes that make you cry with laughter. And that milieu, that's also fabulous, how this "broken" family goes along day by day with their "sticky" routines. The way Frasier gives his smart and funny bits of advice to his callers during his Radio Show, the way the brothers - Frasier and his even more snobby brother, Niles - handle the challenges of their life, such as cleaning the chair in a public Café with a hanky before sitting on it. Or their father, who watches sports on TV the whole day, or his therapist, Daphne, who regularly - and most especially: unexpectedly - shares some of her childhood stories from the English Manchester. And last but not least, Roz, the "nymphomaniac" producer of Frasier at the Radio station.
That's all, and the characters make this show unique, eternal, and one of the most rewatchable sitcoms, or as I stated before: BEST SITCOM EVER.
Yeah, Those Characters...
...those silly - in a good way - characters also got great actors to be played on the camera, such as Kelsey Grammer, David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, John Mahoney, or Peri Gilpin.
